Sustainable Partnerships

International Dark Skies

Additionally, from a technology implementation perspective, we have partnered with the International Dark-Sky Association (IDA) who encourage us to embrace the darkness. We need to ensure that we help protect our dark skies by offering solutions that help our customers implement these five key considerations when it comes to lighting:

  • Light only what is needed
  • Light only when it's needed
  • Light should be no brighter than necessary
  • Minimise blue light emissions
  • Light should be fully shielded (pointing downward)

We strive to minimise the negative effects on local biodiversity and thus developed NightTune technology. This technology optimises night lighting and reduces its impact on the illuminated area and its ecosystem – which makes an active contribution to preserving biodiversity while limiting light pollution and making the night sky visible.

EcoVadis has grown to become the world’s largest and most reliable source of sustainability ratings for the business sector and has created a global network of more than 90,000 rated companies. The EcoVadis methodology evaluates corporate guidelines, measures and reports published by companies on the environment, employees’ and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement according to their size, location and branch.

The current evaluation by EcoVadis for the 2021/22 financial year led to our first Gold Medal. The improvement resulted from the continuous optimisation of all evaluation and subject categories, e.g. the environment, employees’ and human rights, ethics and sustainable procurement, and above all the preparation of corporate guidelines. We now rank among the top 3% companies in the branch and, with regard to the environment, within the top 1% worldwide of all companies in the branch that are rated by EcoVadis. In the coming year, we are targeting the highest possible rating – the Platinum Medal.
