Like every national retailer, Wm Morrisons, in 2012 had energy and carbon reduction at the top of its green agenda.
Project Type: Replacement of T8 Lamps and HF Control Gear
Why? To achieve targets of reducing energy expenditure by €20 million while maintaining high quality lighting to maintain lighting experience
Solution? Thorn worked with Ian Jagger, Electrical Services Projects Manager at Wm Morrisons and project management and installation partner, IES to develop a bespoke LED luminaire for the high level shop floor lighting which would replicate the distribution of the T8 luminaires with improved performance.
The Result?
- Energy saving: 70%
- Cost saving per annum: €39,355.91
- CO2 saving per annum: 195 tonnes
- Payback: 2.6 years
